Abstract: |
Pollinators are important carriers of nectar microbes, driving variations in the structure and function of nectar microbial communities. Upon colonization, microbes can modify nectar quality and floral signals, indirectly influence pollinators' foraging decisions and fitness, and directly affect pollinators’ health. In this paper, we review the effects of pollinators on community structure and function of nectar microbes, and the nectar microbe-mediated changes in pollinator foraging behavior and fitness. At last, we describe the future directions in related research fields. The purpose of this review is to provide reference points for the conservation and utilization of nectar microbes and pollinator resources. |
